I can’t express how much I enjoy making baby shower cakes, especially when it’s a little off the everyday pink and blue affair. This was a gorgeous design my customer brought me for her sister’s baby shower. The cake itself is pistachio filled with raspberry buttercream and fresh raspberries. (I wish I could have sliced this cake and taken a shot of the inside.) Gorgeous, I tell you with a minty green cake and pink speckled buttercream with little red blotches of raspberries. You can imagine, right?
This is a 10″ cake topped with an 8″ cake. Both covered in fondant. The animals are gumpaste cutouts. Yes, I totally noticed the air bubble forming right in front of the giraffe on the bottom tier. I didn’t see it till I took the pic, and manage to smooth it out before pick-up.
We contemplated sticking a mini bottle of Jameson’s whiskey out of the cake as an homage to the baby’s future name, but I left the mini bottle off to the side, in case the expectant mother didn’t appreciate the intrusion on this baby-themed cake.

Cupcakes, cake pops, and a two-tier cake, OH MY! What a tall order! Luckily, it went well and the party was a hit!
The animal print cake pops are red velvet, chocolate, lemon, and carrot cake. The are dipped in chocolate and designed in leopard, tiger, zebra, and cheetah.
The cupcakes are vanilla and chocolate. They are also designed in leopard, tiger, zebra, and cheetah.
This two-tier ruffle cake in red velvet filled with chocolate ganache and covered in cream cheese buttercream. The animals adorning the cake are toys, and not fondant or gumpaste.
I’ll let these beautiful pics speak for themselves!
How much cuter can a cake get?!?! I know when I sculpt ANY animal, it almost always ends up looking like a beanie baby rather than the actual animal. I’ve come to embrace that and love it! This is a chocolate cake with Bailey buttercream. It’s covered in fondant to resemble a giraffe’s pattern and it’s topped with a little fondant giraffe. CUTE!!
I LOVE a creative mind! Instead of the same old cupcakes to bring to class for this birthday, my customer’s son requested brownies…with a Safari theme! Unfortunately, the pic of the elephant brownies came out blurry, but I had to put it up here anyway.
