This isn’t really a success story. As it turns out, the bride-to-be who ordered this cake from me for her small engagement party texted me an hour after I delivered the cake to let me know how unhappy she was with the outcome. As settling does sometimes happen during transport, air trapped inside a cake will sometimes try to escape. When your cake is sealed up tight with fondant, a large air bubble will form and a pinhole has to be created in order to let that air out and to smooth the fondant down. I don’t blame a customer for freaking out over that. In fact, I wish I checked the cake one last time before the final hand-off, but time was tight and air bubbles really don’t occur all that often. I sent her the pinhole instructions since I couldn’t leave my next function to come smooth down the bubble. She also hated the anchor on top, and I’m assuming she hated the initials, as well. She told me she liked the rope border at the top and the navy blue fondant ribbon along the bottom. That was it. Ooookay…
Be that as it may, this was the pic of the cake that I snapped right after I made it. I thought it had come out pretty cute, but you can’t please everyone. The inside is cookies and cream. And just to be clear, I did refund the customer 100% for this cake that she hated. Say what you will, but I don’t need to fight with someone who is unhappy with her cake. There are many other parties for my cakes to grace, and we will just have to move along from here!
8″ Fondant Covered Cookies n Cream Cake
I can never get enough of these “scene” styled cakes. This particular 8″ pina colada cake was for a tropical themed engagement party. The happy couple was island-bound for their honeymoon, so their friends decided to kick things off with a luau type get-together. Incidentally, this cake was ordered along with the “Booty Biscuits”.
Most of the picture is done with colored buttercream with only the palms, hammock, flip flops and hearts being made out of fondant. This cake always makes me smile!
Cannoli filled cake covered in fondant for a sweet groom’s shower the people at work threw for an awesome colleague!
My cousin-in-law has been wanting a make-up cake since he and my cousin were married nearly 2 and a half years ago. The top tier of their wedding cake (the one people save and freeze for their 1st anniversary) was jacked and eaten by relatives and it was a sore point with this awesome couple. Since they have gone on their annual anniversary vacation the last couple of years, I’ve had a hard time making them their make-up cake.
Bryan ordered this cake weeks and weeks ago! He wanted to surprise my cousin Lauren in a way she wouldn’t expect. Vday was perfect! I hoped they enjoyed it!!
The inside is vanilla cake and orange infused cannoli filling with mini chocolate chips. The outside is white vanilla frosting, decorated with lilac & silver dragees and clear sanding sugar up top.

Instead of flowers, send one of these!! Those are seven jumbo cupcakes up top, and a cake filled pot at the bottom (lined with tissue paper, of course.)
This is the first of a series of Bouquets that I’ll be making. They seem to be popular with the test group I tried them out on, and with a few tweaks, I don’t doubt that they will become a best seller! This particular bouquet is $35. I can probably make different sizes (smaller or bigger), but this will be the standard size for now.

They can be made in different sizes, but this is my standard size now.
Very understated gift box-shaped cake. What I loved about this order was a new recipe I was able to try out. Butter cake filled with maple and walnut buttercream. It was a rich, maple flavored buttercream with chopped walnuts scattered throughout. It got rave reviews.
Gift Box & Roses
These cakes were actually for a “Groom’s Shower” at work. (Rather than a Bridal Shower.) The Red & Black cake is made of red velvet cake, strawberry filling, and chocolate ganache frosting on the outside. The strawberries are chocolate dip in a tuxedo motif. The Black & White cake is made of vanilla cake, chocolate ganache filling, and vanilla whipped frosting on the outside, and is also topped with chocolate dipped strawberries in a tuxedo motif.
